I am very lucky to have several choices of where to shop near me. ShopRite is the supermarket for me when I need quick groceries, as I dislike the crazy Super WalMart experience down the road and am not into the Aldi thing (no family to buy for). ShopRite employees are pleasant and store is clean, which is great, superior to understaffed S&S and their robot thing. However, the selection at ShopRite of frozen items is just OK (I want the Pizzeria Uno full size they used to offer, not the little deli-case ones; however, they finally started offering Paul Newman Stoneground Crust Margarita pizzas, so things are looking up) and store doesn't offer real Portuguese rolls (a flavorless generic store version only, not Chavez), so that usually drives me elsewhere just for that---I do love my full flavor Portuguese rolls, and once I'm elsewhere (typically Big Y), I full-shop there. Not a meat eater, so can't comment on that, but the produce quality seems fine. You may like it a lot! (Note that parking lot is very lively whenever I go there, any time of day, so not quite big enough---drive with care.)

I shop everywhere because no one store has everything I need. Shop Rite often has the best prices but their selection is uneven, I often can't find grocery items in stock. Their seafood department is usually good, clean and well stocked, the meat department is close, but doesn't always have what I'm looking for. Produce is uneven, the organic section is nice, but the regular fruit is often bruised and picked over. I'm also not a fan of prepacked and bagged fruit. The Frozen and Dairy sections are well stocked and rarely sold out of sale items. Florist is small and I never see staff there, Bakery is crowded and heavy on frozen baked goods. The employees are pleasant enough, but if there are lines, I use the self checkout. Not a phenomenal experience, but good enough for me to shop there, but the Hamden store, same owner, is kept better.

I've been going to this place since it opened. I don't remember the exact year, but I want to say 2013. It wasn't one of my favorite grocery stores, but it's one of the closest ones, so I found my self going there often. In the beginning, I didn't buy much here, just what I couldn't get at the other stores where I shop. Often I would go to the other ones first then stop here for only a few things. In the beginning, Shop-Rite didn't have much in the way of vegan offerings, but that has changed over the years. Sure, Shop-Rite is still behind some of the other supermarkets, but they've make incredible improvements. Shop-Rite now has a decent vegan selection in the produce department near the tofu. They've got tons of vegan options in the frozen department. From veggie burgers to multiple varieties of Gardein. They now carry Beyond burgers and in November and December you can often find vegan holiday roasts. They didn't used to carry vegan cheese, butt now they do. Only two varieties, but hopefully more will come. They have lots of vegan ice cream choices, including Shop-Rite's own name brand. They even have vegan cheesecake now! Their options are still on the slim side compared to other grocery stores, but the improvements have not gone unnoticed. Overall, I'm content with this Shop-Rite and there's more than just sheer convenience that keeps me going back.

My husband and I recently moved to North Haven and with Stop and Shop in North Haven on strike this month; we needed to find an alternate grocery store to shop at. I had heard about ShopRite and their reputation for low prices (in comparison to a store like Stop and Shop) in the past but was never motivated enough to try it myself. I was pleasantly surprised by my first ShopRite experience. Not only were prices definitely lower than my average Stop and Shop Bill but the overall shopping process was very enjoyable! The store was very clean, very organized and had absolutely everything I was looking for (even the more obscure items) in stock! All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. My only criticism was how busy the store was but I attribute that to the likelihood that others (like me) were there as visitors since Stop and Shop was shut down. Long-term I can honestly say that my time at ShopRite has made me consider a permanent switch even when Stop and Shop re-opens.

We frequently come here on Saturdays to do our weekly grocery shopping trip. We haven't had any issues unlike the other reviews on here. The produce is fresh, they typically have good sales all the time. The deli counter, is well, a deli counter. You should expect to wait anywhere I'd think. The bakery section isn't all that bad either (well speaking for the donuts at least, they are really good, can't speak for the cakes..) If you need baby formula, they lock it up, so as you are checking out, tell the cashier first because they'll need to flag down a manager or someone with the key to get you what you need and if you let them know as you are finishing, it could create a lengthy hold up for those customers behind you.
